Some things change – others are meant to stay exactly as they are.

What makes our Bösehof special can't be summed up in just a few buzzwords.

Hello everyone!

As the sous-chef, I'm used to keeping an eye on everything in the kitchen and making sure operations run smoothly. But today, I’d like to tell you about a project that took us beyond the four walls of the kitchen – and turned out to be a real asset for our hotel.

It all began on a sunny morning. Our hotel’s own pond – once an idyllic little spot of nature – had, over the years, sadly fallen a bit into neglect. Algae, reeds, and all kinds of overgrowth had taken over, so much so that the water was barely visible anymore. It was clear: something had to be done. And who was right there with me? Our dedicated apprentice, Jannis!

The Cleanup Mission: More Than Just Pond Maintenance

Armed with waders, rakes, and a whole lot of motivation, we got to work. It was tough, backbreaking labor! Meter by meter, we cleared the pond of its overgrown greenery. Jannis was a great help and showed that he's not only a strong team player in the kitchen, but also out in nature. We pulled clumps of algae from the water, cut back woody reeds, and cleared the banks of unwanted plants.

As we stood there in the pond, an idea began to take shape. We looked around, saw the potential of this place, and asked ourselves: Why just clean the pond? Why not turn it into something more? The thought of creating a small retreat for our guests began to grow – slowly but surely.

The Vision Grows: From Idea to Relaxation Zone

The more overgrowth we cleared away, the clearer our vision became. Just imagine: cozy seating areas by the water’s edge. A place where our guests can unwind after a long day, enjoy the surrounding nature, and simply let their minds wander. And of course, a lovely spot for our team to catch some fresh air during their breaks.

We shared our idea with hotel management right away – and they were instantly enthusiastic. With a lot of dedication, alongside our regular duties, we managed to turn our vision into reality. In the weeks that followed, the pond wasn’t just cleaned up, it was completely redesigned.

The Result: A Highlight for Our Hotel

From a once overgrown pond, a beautiful relaxation area has emerged—cherished equally by our guests and staff. It is a place of peace and beauty that has added another charming attraction to our hotel.

For Jannis and me, it was an incredibly rewarding experience to see how a simple cleanup turned into such a large and beautiful project. It shows that with determination, a bit of imagination, and the right support, great things can be achieved — even beyond the kitchen!

Sincerely,
Michael Buck
