Apprentice exchange

Experience, culture, new perspectives

Looking beyond one’s own horizon is an important part of training in the hotel and restaurant industry. That’s why we are delighted that our apprentices regularly have the opportunity to gain international experience – experiences that shape them not only professionally, but also personally.

Last year, our apprentice Jannis had the chance to travel to South Africa for two weeks as part of the Erasmus+ program, immersing himself in South African cuisine and culture. He returned full of new impressions and with great pride, bringing his newly acquired skills and enthusiasm into our kitchen.

This year, the exchange continued in the other direction: two young women from Africa joined us through the same program to discover German cuisine. Our kitchen team, led by Ralf Sommer, gave them a warm welcome and integrated them into the daily kitchen routine from day one.

Our apprentices Ole and Veronika also had the opportunity to gain valuable experience abroad this year – in Switzerland. For three weeks, they worked at the restaurant Dampfschiff in Thun and at the Hotel Eden Spiez, where they got to know both the service area and the reception.

Veronika remembers this time with particular fondness:

“It was one of our best experiences! We not only had the chance to learn new things and broaden our horizons, but also to enjoy the stunning scenery with its mountains and lakes. An absolute highlight was an unforgettable paragliding flight over the Alps. The exchange showed us how important it is to stay open to new experiences – and gave us so many wonderful memories.”

Sincerely,
Celina Seifried
