Bösehof Update: Don’t panic, we’re staying!

And yes – we’re continuing to decorate with joy.

So, dear guests… anyone who has read the newspaper in the past few days may have briefly thought that the Bösehof was being auctioned off, half dismantled, and already halfway into a “Decluttering Crew Special.” Spoiler: No. Absolutely not.

We are here – and we’re staying. With our team, with our restaurant, with our spa, with plenty of good spirits… and with a huge amount of anticipation: in 2026 we will celebrate 200 years of Bösehof – throughout the entire year, with many small events!

What’s really going on?

To be completely transparent: the owner would like to sell the property – due to age and because there is no succession. That’s all. No drama. No emergency.

The hotel as a business continues unchanged, with me at the helm and our wonderful team. No one has to leave. No one is being replaced. No one is being secretly packed into boxes at night. We are continuing our work with a full team.

The Bösehof is not a wobbly house of cards. It is a solid, long-established hotel that was merely given a brief sneeze by a newspaper.

And now to the part that’s a little annoying…

The first report in the Kreiszeitung made it sound as if someone had hit the “Everything must go!” button. Drama sells – but that’s exactly what unsettled many guests.

We are now receiving cancellations, not because we are struggling, but because people have become nervous due to misleading reporting. The only reason things could get tight, theoretically, would not be reality – but the panic ripple caused by a poorly written article.

The real reality looks completely different:

We are already planning the arrangements for next year
The house is festively decorated for Advent
We are serving regional roast goose that triggers the “more, please!” reflex in many guests
Weddings, celebrations & events continue to be booked
Our team is staying and is fully informed
And we are preparing for a radiant anniversary year: 200 years of Bösehof!

What do we wish for now?

A bit of trust. A bit of calm. And for you to rely on the right information.

Nordsee-Zeitung visited us personally, researched properly, and reported fairly. And of course, you can always rely on us – who would know better what’s really happening here than we do?

In conclusion

We are heading into the Advent weeks full of energy – with festive lights, good spirits, regional roast goose, and lots of anticipation for all guests who will join us in enjoying this special time.

The Bösehof has history, and the Bösehof has a future. And we are looking forward to saying goodbye to a strong year 2025 together with you – and celebrating our 200-year anniversary in 2026 as it deserves.
